IBAN not Adhering to the SEPA Payment Circuit

If a tenant is unable to pay using a bank account their IBAN code may not adhere to the SEPA payment circuit. Several reasons may lead to this, and the tenant should have correctly executed the procedure for registering their profile.

Verifying the IBAN

To verify if the IBAN adheres to the payment circuit please paste the IBAN code on this link: https://www.iban.com/iban-checker

Solution

If the IBAN is found to not adhere to the SEPA payment circuit the tenant will need to update their bank information to proceed with payment.

The tenant has these options:
1. use another bank account adhering to the SEPA circuit. Revolut or N26 cards sometimes have a virtual IBAN and can be used.
2. pay via credit card (in this case as a landlord may have to activate the feature, you can find the guide here).
